This course will teach you how to build and run a creative business that revolves around a powerful mission so you can get your message further and use your art to create a real change in the world.

You’ll learn how to dedicate your passion to a cause and craft a strong mission and vision statement that truly inspires your customers, business partners, and employees. Together, we’ll explore what factors go into a strong mission and explore social impact, sustainability, diversity, inclusion, and core values. And we’ll look at how you can communicate your mission to attract the right people to your creative work. 

You’ll learn how to integrate your mission and vision into every aspect of your business and develop a company culture that will help you build a team that will rise up and move the mission forward. 

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills you need to be a leader that inspires real change with art, music, dance, design, photography, or film.

Meet your instructor

Your instructor  Noel McKenzie

Noel McKenzie is a Black, Queer, Jamerican social entrepreneur and organizational development consultant based in Brooklyn, New York. He is Executive Director of Represented Foundation, a company he founded to close the diversity gap in the social impact leadership. Drawing from his own experiences with racial biases in the nonprofit leadership, Noel created the Vision. Execution. Results. (V.E.R.) incubator, a social impact training program, that helps Black and Brown social entrepreneurs launch social enterprises.

As a social entrepreneur, Noel designs leadership development opportunities and workshops that blend culture and service to promote access and intentional community-building.

As a consultant, Noel pulls from over 10 years working in People Operations. He's trained teams behind large-scale international nonprofits like Girls Who Code and Library For All to write HR policies rooted in social impact, and equity and inclusion. 

Noel is an American Express Emerging Leaders fellow of 2019, a 2020 honoree from the BET network’s Black Excellence Campaign and a 2021 inductee to the Black Innovation Alliance. Noel is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and earned his Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management from The Milano Graduate School at the New School in New York.
